The purpose of teaching is not to demonstrate a teacher’s knowledge, but to help students truly understand, absorb, and apply what they have learned. Early in my teaching career, I devoted extensive effort to preparing large amounts of course material, believing that providing more content would benefit students. However, I soon realized that overwhelming students with information often made it difficult for them to grasp the key concepts. This experience taught me that the true measure of effective teaching is not how much the instructor delivers, but how much the students actually learn.
Since then, I have adopted a student-centered teaching approach that focuses on students’ learning needs. I reorganize complex concepts into clear, logical, and systematic frameworks to facilitate understanding. In addition, I incorporate real-life examples, images, animations, and other multimedia resources to make abstract biological concepts more accessible and engaging. I believe that meaningful learning occurs when students can connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
Beyond classroom instruction, I emphasize the practical application of knowledge by integrating course content with current industry practices. I also encourage students to obtain professional certifications and develop interdisciplinary competencies that enhance their employability and adaptability in the rapidly evolving biotechnology field.
Ultimately, my goal is to cultivate students’ motivation for active learning, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and lifelong learning habits. By creating a supportive and engaging learning environment, I hope to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to excel in their future academic pursuits, scientific research, and professional careers.
